Change Comes Now
In 2015 I realized together, we could overcome our challenges much more effectively. This is ultimately why (W.A.M.I) Women Against Mass Incarceration was birthed. We are here to empower, change and re-shape the lives of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and families.
We understand that systems designed to oppress our communities cannot be fixed. The prison industrial complex is made up of interlocking systems of dominance that presume caging and control are necessary steps in responding to harm. We believe that harm is derivative of systemic failures.
Families for Justice as Healing is led by incarcerated women, formerly incarcerated women, and women with incarcerated loved ones. Our mission is to end the incarceration of women and girls.
Free Hearts, founded in 2016, is a Tennessee state-wide organization led by formerly incarcerated women that provides support, education, and advocacy in organizing families impacted by incarceration, with the ultimate goals of reuniting families and keeping families together.
Fighting Injustice Standing Together envisions a world in which every woman will be equipped with tools to navigate life successful.
Florida Cares Charity Corp. is a Florida Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to improving the lives of incarcerated individuals.
Life After Release (LAR) is a women-based, formerly incarcerated-led organization. LAR provides support for the needs of formerly incarcerated women re-entering their communities. We empower women by teaching them how to manage life after release from incarceration. We also teach them grassroots organizing and advocacy skills to shape legislation and policy that affects their lives.
